A realization hit me as when I pulled into the driveway the other day. I could not see any numbers on our house to indicate what the address is. It's a relatively small thing to most people but it is a pet peeve of mine. Anyone who has ever delivered pizzas, packages or flowers can tell you how helpful those house numbers are.
Most people will agree that ordering pizza or getting other deliveries is fun. However; there is an even more important reason to have bronze address plaques or other numbers clearly visible from the street. If you ever need help, emergency workers need to be able to quickly find your house. The best way to do that may be to have residential address plaques clearly visible on your home or in your yard.
Mailboxes are almost always well numbered. I don't know if emergency services personnel had the same problems identifying houses that I did. There would often be a cluster of mailboxes and each one would be appropriately numbered. However, there was nothing to help me identify any particular house.
This situation almost always meant phoning the customer for more information. Where I live, pizza delivery isn't an option but an emergency could happen at anytime. I think I'll be checking into options and personalized address plaques very soon.
